A superb bookcase in solid blond mahogany and elm burl veneer, decorated with carved seaweed and shell motifs. The projecting central section opens with a glazed door featuring rich wrought-iron decoration. The sides open with two solid doors and two drawers in the lower section. It rests on a solid plinth with rounded corners. The handles, keys, and keyhole escutcheons are in gilt bronze. The shelves are adjustable in height. Stamped with the Thisse Nancy mark, it is a testament to the superb quality of cabinetmaking. We do not have any documentation on the Thisse firm, but we have sold several pieces of furniture bearing this mark, all of which exhibited a quality of craftsmanship equal to that of Majorelle. We also own the matching flat desk.
