More information
An important bookcase in solid, molded, and finely carved blond mahogany decorated with hydrangeas. It opens with four glazed doors, four drawers, and four niches. The curved cornice features scalloped cutouts, the glass panes are adorned with rounded mullions, the top is made of Biglio gray marble, and the handles and keyhole escutcheons are in gilt bronze. The cabinetmaking is of remarkable quality! Paul Alexandre Dumas was a member of the Nancy School and a student of Louis Majorelle; around 1900, he settled in Paris and took over the Barbedienne firm.
