Superb solid pear wood table with rich carved decoration in high relief of iris and whips. Curved base with sculpted edges, decoration of abstract shapes creating a fluidity and dynamic specific to Edouard Colonna. Edouard Colonna Mulheim am Rhein, May 27, 1862-Nice, October 14, 1948 An artist with eclectic talent, he tackles furniture as well as jewelry, porcelain and fabrics. After studying architecture in Brussels, he went to New York in 1882 and worked with the Tiffany house. He exhibited his works at the secession of Munich in 1899, in Turin in 1902, but especially in Paris, during the universal exhibition of 1900, in the "house of art nouveau" of the Samuel Bing group, to which he belongs.
