A spectacular presentation sideboard in solid tamanu wood, molded and carved. The upper section features a curved, molded cornice carved with arrowhead flowers and opens with five glazed doors and two niches. The lower section opens laterally with two solid doors, three drawers in the frieze, and a large paneled niche adorned with arched uprights. The doors are deeply molded, the panels are carved in high relief with floral baskets and stylized stems, and the drawers have substantial gilt-bronze handles. The cabinetmaking is of remarkable quality, and the patina is superb! Charles Plumet and Tony Selmersheim were both architects and members of the "Art in Everything" movement. Their partnership produced significant works, including some of the furnishings for the Villa Demoiselle in Reims and the furniture for the French Embassy in Vienna.
